Wisconsin Arts Board Awards Grant to Forward Performing Arts

Forward Performing Arts and The DC Everest Arts Education Program are pleased to announce that the Wisconsin Arts Board, Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, and B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation have awarded a grant to sponsor The Northwoods Encore in Wausau, Wisconsin on Thursday, July 6th.

“We are excited to have been awarded the grant to help underwrite the presentation of The Northwoods Classic at DC Everest’s Stiehm Stadium in Wausau, Wisconsin.” said Executive Director Chris Komnick. “With seven of Drum Corps International’s World and Open Class units participating, we expect to provide the stage for over 1000 young musicians to perform.”"This year we will be featuring the DCI World Champion Bluecoats.” said Show Coordinator Diane Goetsch. “We have an incredible line up of corps from across the country to showcase their 10-minute shows for the Wausau community.”The Community Arts Regranting Program of the Wisconsin Arts Board encourages local cooperation and expansion of arts opportunities throughout the state. The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin was the recipient of a $18,845 state grant in July of 2017. Those funds have been supplemented with a grant from the Community Foundation's Wausau/Marathon County Fund, and matched by the B.A. and Esther Greenheck Foundation. They are now being invested back into the community for local agencies to implement quality arts programming.Prior to the event, the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps will conduct a “Mad Skills” marching arts clinics. The clinic is free to all student ticket holders for the show and will begin at 4 p.m. at Stiehm Stadium.Forward Performing Arts is the umbrella organization of the Madison Scouts along with additional performing ensembles and educational outreach programs. The mission of Forward Performing Arts is to provide a program for youth in music and performance training through a positive environment that emphasizes character and social development, leadership, self-discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.The Scouts Summer Series includes Drum Corps International events at UW-Whitewater on Saturday, June 24th; in Wausau, Wisconsin on Thursday, July 6th, and in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday, July 9th. The competing units in Wausau include the Bluecoats (Canton, OH), Madison Scouts (Madison, WI), Blue Stars (La Crosse, WI), Troopers (Casper, WY), Pioneer (Milwaukee, WI), Legends (Kalamazoo, MI), and Shadow (Oregon, WI).To learn more and purchase tickets, CLICK HERE
