The Whitewater Classic supports music education and the marching arts in the State of Wisconsin by partnering with the Mid-American Competing Band Director’s Association (MACBDA). This year three MACBDA summer marching bands from Wisconsin will perform (starting at 6 p.m.) including Lutheran Vanguard from Milwaukee, Shadow Armada from Oregon, and Sound of Sun Prairie.The Madison Scouts will be providing members of their instructional team to evaluate the band's performances and providing them valuable feedback as they continue competing in their summer competitive circuit.2012 marks the 5th consecutive year of partnership between the Madison Scouts and MACBDA. The first 3 years, the event was named Madisonic and featured area bands with the Madison Scouts in exhibition. Now in its second year, The Whitewater Classic incorporates the band programs as a pre-show to the DCI event featuring one Open Class corps and 7 World Class drum & bugle corps. This year’s event takes place Friday, July 6th in historic Perkins Stadium on the UW-Whitewater Campus. The bands will begin their exhibition at 6 p.m. and the DCI event will begin at 7 p.m.A special thanks goes to Craig Aswegan for his sponsorship of the event and for endowing the Wisconsin Ambassador Scholarship... awarded annually to new members of the Madison Scouts from Wisconsin or attending a Wisconsin school. The goal is to facilitate an opportunity for some of MACBDA performers to join the Scouts once they have completed the journey with their high school groups.Plenty of tickets will be available at the gate, so be sure to attend The Whitewater Classic!
