“Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood”, a documentary by Madison Scouts alumni Mac Smith and To
m Tollefsen, is coming to a theater near you—if you request it.The documentary will be distributed in 2015 using a new, crowd-driven method. Individuals may request a screening in their area through the film’s website, courtesy of Gathr Films. It is then up to the individual to promote the ticket sales of the requested screening. Gathr determines how many tickets need to be pre-sold for each screening to happen. If the tipping point is not reached by a determined time, the screening will not take place. The filmmakers would like to encourage groups, especially middle and high school band programs, color guards, and indoor drumlines to request a screening and use it as a fundraising opportunity.“Use our film as an excuse to bring your local community together and communicate to them about what your group has been doing, and encourage them to get involved,” the filmmakers said. Groups are encouraged to collect donations, host a silent auction, sell raffle tickets, or promote ongoing fundraisers at the event, as agreed upon with the theater where the screening will be held. In addition, the “Scouts Honor” team will donate a portion of the proceeds of that screening to the group.Sound of Sun Prairie, a summer marching band from Sun Prairie, Wisc. will host a screening of the film at Marcus Eastgate Cinema 16, 5202 High Crossing Boulevard, Madison, Wisc. on Wednesday, February 4th .To find or request a screening in your area and purchase tickets to make a requested screening a reality, please visit http://www.scoutshonormovie.com/screenings
