Meet the 2012 Madison Scouts Drum Majors

The Madison Scouts drums majors for the 2012 season include Sean Phelan (Waukesha, WI), Sean Hadley (Loveland, OH), and Denzel Brown (Bryan, TX).

Sean Phelan (22) is in his sixth and final year with the Madison Scouts, having played baritone starting in 2007 and moving to drum major for the 2011 season. Sean just recently completed his Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and will begin a student teaching assignment this fall. He plans to go into teaching once he's completed his training.Phelan spends his time arranging & composing music and has arranged several of the Scouts' brass ensembles that have competed in the DCI Individual & Ensemble competition. In addition to playing just about any brass instrument, Sean also enjoys swing, salsa, and ballroom dancing.

Sean Hadley (20) is in his third season with the corps having marched bass drum in 2010-11. He attends Purdue University where he is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in energy and the environment.Sean began learning percussion from his father at age 7, and it has become a lifelong passion for him. An Eagle Scout, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and spent two summers working as a BSA camp counselor prior to his drum corps career. Sean is a member of the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band, jazz band, and Purdue Percussion Theatre.

Denzel Brown (18) is in his first year of the Madison Scouts. Denzel recently graduated from Bryan High School and plans on studying Music Education this fall.Denzel was born and raised in New Orleans, living there until August 2005 when his home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. After his family relocated to Bryan, Texas, Denzel joined the band program and instantly began to develop a passion for music and all it had to offer. After becoming drum major at his high school band, he knew he wanted to take his conducting to a new level in a drum corps.
