William Martin returns to The Madison Scouts in 2018 as the Color Guard Caption Head. Martin first joined the Madison Scouts guard staff in 2016 as a weapon technician, then became the Caption Head in 2017. Martin is an Iowa native currently residing in the Dallas, TX area. He is currently the Color Guard Director at Flower Mound High School of Flower Mound, TX. He has been teaching, choreographing, and consulting for Color Guards for about 15 years.Prior to moving to Dallas, he spent eight years in Houston, TX where he served as the Color Guard Director/Designer at Andy Dekaney High School (2014-2016), as well as the Color Guard Director/Designer at The Woodlands High School (2008-2014; 2013 BOA Grand National Champions). Martin was also a full time company member of The Masquerade Theatre Company in Houston, where he performed and choreographed six mainstage Musical productions a year.Prior to moving to Texas, Martin spent several years in Dayton, OH while studying Acting; Musical Theatre at Wright State University. There he taught multiple Color Guards in both the Cincinnati and Dayton, OH areas, and northern Kentucky area which were all consistent WGI Regional finalists, WGI Regional Champions, Tri-State Circuit Champions and MEPA Circuit Champions.Martin started his performance career at a very early age, singing, dancing, acting before participating in the color guard activity. He has performed throughout the United States, Japan, and Europe. He marched drum corps for five seasons with the Cavaliers (2004-2008; 2004 World Champions & DCI Best Color Guard, 2006 World Champions; 2007 DCI Best Color Guard) where he served as the Guard Sergeant his last year. He also marched with The Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard (2007; 2007 WGI World Champions) as well as a cameo performance with Cypress Independent Winter Guard (2012).As an educator Martin has worked as a clinician, consultant, designer, choreographer, and/or technician with The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle corps, The Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle corps, Cypress Independent World Winter Guard, Axis Color Guard, The Heights Color Guard, The University of Houston Winter Guard, the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band, The Spirit of America Marching Band, The Pride from The Netherlands Winterguard as well as a host of High School and Jr. High School programs that have competed both locally and nationally.Outside of teaching Color Guard he enjoys performing in and/or choreographing theatre productions, taking road trips with family and friends, and spending time with his dog “Peanut”! “I’m so excited, grateful, and honored for the opportunity to lead the young men of the Madison Scouts color guard again! Chad Berkstresser is originally from Lynchburg, Virginia where he started his color guard career. He marched in Winter guards and Drum corps on both the east and west coasts. Berkstresser has marched for, and taught with some of the best names in the color guard activity on all levels of competition!Jeffrey Cash, Choreographer

Jeffrey Cash is a native of North Carolina, where he began his pageantry career. After graduating high school, Jeffrey went on to perform with numerous ensembles, including Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps (2004-2007), The Study Winter Guard (2004-2005), First Flight Winter Guard (2006), and Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard (2007-2008, 2010). In 2009, he was invited as one of 6 male performers to join the Aimachi Winter Guard from Nagoya, Japan.After aging out of Carolina Crown, Jeffrey became the color guard caption head and choreographer for The Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps (2008-2009). The 2009 season was historical for the Troopers and DCI, as it was the first time the corps had placed in the top 12 at the DCI World Championships in 23 years! In 2010, Jeffrey joined the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps color guard staff and, in 2011, he became a choreographer for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps. Jeffrey has also worked with numerous high school and independent programs around the country and world including Northview HS, Lawrence Central HS, Cary HS, The Woodlands HS, Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, First Flight Winter Guard, and Mayflower Winter Guard.Jeffrey is currently the color guard director and designer at Walled Lake Central High School in Walled Lake, MI. He is also the program designer for the WGI Finalist, Green Hope High School Winter Guard, in Cary, NC. Jeffrey lives in Birmingham, MI with his boyfriend, Harrison, and their rescue dog, Izzy.Tom Harrington, Choreographer

Tom Harrington was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He started marching in 1982 at Thomas McKean High School. Harrington traveled the country to get as much training from some of the top choreographers and designers in the activity as possible while performing.While using a blend of his influences, he’s had the pleasure to work with many successful Scholastic and Independent programs on all levels of competition. He currently resides in Houston, Texas where he is the Color Guard Director at Westfield High School.Louis Hellinger, Choreographer

Louis Hellinger is a lifelong NJ resident and has over 20 years of performance, design and instruction experience for color guard, drum corps and band. He began his passion for the color guard activity quite humbly in a local independent guard and Drum Corps, from his hometown of Bayonne, NJ. Later, he was a member of the renowned Emerald Marquis color guard from Wakefield, Ma. Louis also performed with the Sunrisers (NY) and Westshoremem (PA) drum corps throughout his marching career.After marching Louis has had the privilege to work with many wonderful groups in the design capacity. Most recently, Louis was the designer and choreographer for AMP winter guard, the 2017 WGI Open Class Champion. Previously he was the creative director/designer for West Orange HS for over 12 years. Additionally, he has also worked with: Cypress Independent (TX), The Black Watch (NJ), The Blue Knights (CO), Sacred Heart University (CT) and countless other high school marching bands and color guard throughout the NJ area. Currently, he is working with the Madison Scouts Drum Corps.When he is not doing color guard, Louis has a busy and exciting career working in the online marketing field. He also enjoys traveling, the beach, and finding any excuse to bake something sweet.Jason Herrington, Choreographer

Jason Herrington was born and raised in Tampa, FL. Jason began his performance career as a member of Northeast Independent Winterguard, where he was a 6-time WGI World Class Finalist. As a member of The Cavaliers Drum Corps, Jason was awarded a World Championship title in 2004 and continued performing through 2007. Jason has a BA in Education from St. Petersburg College of Education. As an educator, Jason was the director of the WGI Bronze medalist, Countryside HS, before becoming a full-time choreographer and teacher at Tarpon Springs HS. Jason helped lead The Tarpon Springs World Guard to two World Championships titles, as well as a Grand National Championship at BOA. Jason is an integral part of the Leadership Conservatory for the Arts at Tarpon Springs High School, where he developed and still currently directs the dance program. Jason has traveled the world, teaching and providing choreography to several groups, including, The Bluecoats, UCF Pegasus World, and Southern Knights in England, and The Pride from Netherlands.Charles Williams, Choreographer

Charles Williams is a native of Houston, Tx and currently resides in Louisville, Ky. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University, and a Master’s degree in School Counseling from The University of Louisville. He is currently a Middle School Counselor at Highland Hills Middle School and the Colorguard Director at Floyd Central High School.Williams consults, designs, and programs for numerous schools including the following: Floyd Central High School, Columbus North High School, Lincoln High School, Bryan High School, Sharryland winterguard, Whitewater winterguard, Flower Mound winterguard, and Spirit Independent winterguard. Jeff Allen has over 35 years’ experience performing and providing instruction in the Marching Arts. Jeff originally hails from Western NY where he began his career as a member of the Hilton Crimson Cadets Marching Band and Winter Guard, where he attended High School. In addition, he was a performer with the Churchville Saints Winter Guard, the Schaumburg Guardsmen IW WGI Finalist from Schaumburg, Il, and the Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Rochester, NY.In the mid 90’s Jeff made the transition from performing to teaching, and spent the better part of the next 2 decades working with several New York State area Marching Bands, Winter Guards, and Drum Corps such as, Webster, Naples, East Ridge, Medina High Schools, the Empire Statesmen and Rochester Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, and most notably the Bishop Kearney Performance Ensemble, 5-time Scholastic World WGI World Champions.Jeff currently resides in Philadelphia, Pa where he is a Regional IT Manger, and is currently on staff providing technical and consultant services for Orchard Park High School Winter Guard, Les Eclipse, The Hawthorne Caballeros, and AMP Independent World Winter Guard, the 2017 WGI Independent Open Class World Champion.“Jeff is very excited to be joining the Madison Scouts instructional team for the summer of 2018!”Kaley Baum, Technician

Kaley Baum is currently the director of the Willis High School Color Guard from Willis, TX. Kaley was born and raised in The Woodlands, TX, where she started her involvement in the color guard activity. In her time at The Woodlands High School, she became the color guard captain. After graduation, she joined the instructional staff at The Woodlands, in that time The Woodlands became the 2013 BOA Grand National Champion.After high school, she further pursued her color guard career marching the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, Colorado for 2 years (2012-2013). After her time at the Blue Knights she went on to march the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps form Rockford, Illinois for 2 years (2014-2015). Her winter guard experience includes time with WGI Finalist Cypress Independent from Houston, TX for 3 years (2013-2015).Along with being the Willis High School Color Guard Director, Kaley is a clinician and choreographer for many programs throughout the Houston Area. She is currently pursuing a degree in elementary education from Sam Houston State University.Ronnie Bynum, Technician

Ronnie Bynum is a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington and a native of Muncie, Ind. He currently resides in Indianapolis.Ronnie has much experience as both a color guard member and instructor. He is an alumnus of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (1995-1996), the Pride of Cincinnati (1997) and Crown Guard (2000).He went on to teach at the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from 1997 to 2001, the Center Grove Color Guard from 2002 to 2010, 2016-present, The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2002 to 2009 and The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 2010-2015.Travis Chiles, Technician

Travis Chiles is a native of South Carolina, and received his BA in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina. His performance career began at the age of 10 with dance and continued through college where he founded Project Dance, a student led dance company and charitable organization.While pursuing his degree, he spent his summers performing with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. He looks forward to his second year there as an instructor. Chiles has also performed with Etude and Paramount World Winter Guards.Travis currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he choreographs for and instructs several pageantry programs including Ola HS, Kennesaw Mountain HS, and the Paramount Open Winter Guard. In addition to instructing, he designs flags and other graphics for programs across the country. Any remaining free time he has is devoted to working as a barista, teaching dance, and enjoying life with his three roommates!Kelsey Gleason, Technician

Kelsey Gleason began her color guard career twenty-three years ago. Her performance career includes seven years with the WGI World Champion Nolan Winter Guard where she served as captain her final two years. She also performed with the DCI World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps for six years, serving as captain her final three years. Kelsey’s teaching career spans nineteen years where she has served as color guard director at John Horn High School, Lewisville High School, Spring High School and Marcus High School. During her tenure, Kelsey’s programs have received top honors locally, regionally, state wide and nationally both in the outdoor and indoor competitive arenas.Kelsey has also consulted at a large number of programs in the Dallas and Houston area. She has also brought her teaching talents to the drum corps world working with The Glassmen, Phantom Regiment, Carolina Crown and the Madison Scouts. Kelsey is a member of the Texas Color Guard Judges Association evaluating groups around the country during the marching band and winter guard season.Currently Kelsey resides in McKinney, Texas where she teaches mathematics at McKinney Boyd High School and will spend her ninth summer teaching at The Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.Homer Lopez, Technician

Homer “Alexis” Lopez born and raised in Los Angeles California, began his involvement in the color guard activity as a member of the Belmont High School Marching Band and Colorguard in Downtown Los Angeles. He pursued his performer career and marched with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont Ill from 2003-2007 (Champion 2004 Best Colorguard, Champion 2006 and Best Colorguard 2007). He also served as a cast member Corona Winterguard Independent World in 2011 (WGI Finalist). Over the last ten years Homer has severed as a director, designer and choreographer for La Cañada High School 2006-2012, William S. Hart High School 2009-2011 and Downey High School 2011-Present (WGI SA Finalist 2015). As a technician, he has worked for Chino High School 2010 (SW WGI Finalist). His groups have won several state championships and have been consistent competitors in both WGASC and WGI. He continues to Direct, design and choreograph for several groups in both Los Angeles and Orange counties.Emily Mckay, Technician

Emily is originally from Cedar Park, TX and spun with the Cedar Park High School marching band and winterguard (2001-2005). After graduating, Emily became a color guard technician for Hendrickson HS, Vista Ridge HS and Leander HS during various seasons before moving to Fort Worth. Upon moving to the DFW area, Emily became the color guard director of Juan Seguin High School (2008-2012) as well as the technician for Western Hills HS (2008-2009). She is currently working as a color guard technician with Flower Mound High School where she began in 2015.She began her drum corps experience with the Blue Knights in 2003. She then spent her remaining summers with the Glassmen from 2004 through her age-out in 2008 where she served as a Guard Captain her last year. Emily’s winterguard experience includes Nolan Independent A in 2006, Black Gold for the 2007 through 2012 seasons and Cypress Independent World from 2014 though 2016.Amy Metzger, Technician

Amy Metzler is an elementary school teacher in Hillsborough County. She is originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania where, in 5th grade, she began her color guard career and eventually won a WGI World Championship medal in 1991.Since marching, Amy has taught several successful middle and high school programs. She is currently teaching the Seminole High School World Guard from Seminole, Florida. She has been on staff there since the winter of 2014. She has also taught several DCI colorguards including: Teal Sound (2008-2010), Crossmen (2003 and 2005, 2006), Phantom Regiment (2011-2013), and The Madison Scouts (2016-present.)Michael O’Neil, Technician

Michael was born in Chicago, IL before moving to Evansville, IN with his family. He currently resides in Houston, TX as the Assistant Color Guard Director of Tompkins High School (Katy, TX). As a young performer, Michael began his color guard career with Evansville Central High School in Indiana. He continued his training outside with Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps in 2006. Michael has performed with a variety of winter guard programs around the country, including Eklipse (‘07, ‘09, ‘10, ‘11) and The Mark of NSA (‘08) before finishing out his performance career with Zydeco Color Guard in 2014.As a marching music educator, Michael has been an instructor and choreographer for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps (’12), Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps (’13, ’14), and Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps (’15, ’16). During the winter guard season Michael has worked with multiple high schools and independent programs around the country such as Tompkins HS (TX), Greenfield Central HS (IN), Father Ryan HS(TN), Station Camp HS (TN), Cypress Ranch HS (TX), Lake Travis HS (TX), Fred J. Page HS (TN), Davies County HS (TN), Axis Color Guard (TX), and Eklipse Winter Guard (TN).Outside of the activity, Michael enjoys cooking, shoping at HEB, and playing with his puppy, Bailey. Michael is excited to be joining the Madison Scouts Color Guard staff for the 2018 season!Tiffany Quinones, Technician

Tiffany Quinones is a Houston born and raised color guard enthusiast. She started her career in 2001 marching Emblem 281 (2005 WGI finalist.) Tiffany continued marching at Fortitude (2006 WGI Finalist) and Code Black (2007 WGI Gold Medalist, 2008 WGI Finalist.) She spent the summer of 2005 marching Capital Regiment.Once she stopped marching in 2009, Tiffany joined the Code Black staff, where they became consistent finalists from 2010-2013, ending with the bronze medal in Open Class. Tiffany taught at Klein Collins High School from 2009 to 2016, and in that time, Klein Collins was the 2013 TCGC Scholastic National A State Champion and 2014 WGI 4th place Scholastic A Finalist.Tiffany is currently the Director at Elkins High School in Missouri City, works at the Woodlands High School, and consults in the Houston area. This year marks Tiffany's fourth summer as Caption Head with the Open Class Guardians Drum and Bugle Corp. Tiffany has a Bachelor degree in Art History from the University of Houston and continues to enjoy creative realms in all art, playing with her pups Chai and Pizza, and catching Pokémon.
