Madison Scouts Welcome James Elvord as Artistic Director

Forward Performing Arts and the Madison Scouts welcome James Elvord as Artistic Director and Staff Coordinator. James is an alumnus of the Scouts and was the head brass instructor and program coordinator for the 1975 World Champion corps. The Drum Corps International Hall of Famer has also taught many other corps, including the Santa Clara Vanguard, Cavaliers, Spirit of Atlanta, Troopers, Southwind, Glassmen, 27th Lancers, Sacramento Freelancers, Seneca Optimists, and Alberta All-Girls. He is a long-time adjudicator for Drum Corps International, Bands of America, and the Central States Judging Association.

“This is a milestone event for the Madison Scouts and a significant step toward a new direction for our program,” stated Gregg Auby, Board Chair of Forward Performing Arts. “We are pleased that Jim has come back home and we anticipate great things from his leadership as we begin a new journey in Madison Scouts history.”Recently retired after a 30 year career with the Royal Bank of Canada as a High Net Worth Financial Consultant, according to Mr. Elvord, his personal mission is “to make a difference in other people’s lives and to accept the smallest amount of sorrow to appreciate the good times.”“James has been a trusted advisor to the organization and a mentor to me for many years,” said Executive Director Chris Komnick. “He brings tremendous leadership focus, experience, and wisdom to the organization. I’m excited about his vision for the Madison Scouts moving forward.”“I can’t wait to get started,” said Elvord. “We have lots of work to do and I will be announcing new staff appointments during the upcoming weeks.
