The Madison Scouts are pleased to welcome Dr. Tiffany Galus as Music Ensemble Coordinator. Ms. Galus currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Longhorn Band and Associate Director of the Longhorn Pep Band at The University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches courses in undergraduate conducting and wind band literature and co-directs the University of Texas Symphony Band. She recently finished her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Conducting at The University of Texas at Austin. A native of northern Indiana, Dr. Galus holds both a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Indiana University, where she studied conducting and trombone.

Prior to her arrival in Austin, Dr. Galus was an Associate Instructor in the Department of Bands at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. During her time at Indiana, she served as the director for the Women’s Big Red Basketball Band, Crabb Band, and Volleyball Band; Assistant Director for the Men’s Big Red Basketball Band; as well as the manager for the IU Summer Music Clinic.

After the completion of her undergraduate degree, Dr. Galus served as the Director of Bands for the New Prairie United School Corporation. Under her direction, the program received consistent superior ratings at numerous band festivals, including two state titles and in 2013, she was a quarter-finalist for the first Music Educator Grammy Award. She also served on the Blue Stars brass instructional staff from 2014-2018.

Dr. Galus is also a freelance transcriber, editor, arranger, and composer, having written and designed for wind ensemble, marching band, pep band, chamber ensembles, and show choir. Recent projects include a critical edition of Michael Martin’s Lontano: Symphony for Wind Ensemble (2018), an original brass choir work entitled Hail (2018), and her wind ensemble transcription of John Adams’ Saxophone Concerto was released and premiered in 2019.

Currently, Dr. Galus serves as the Operations Director for Ultimate Drill Book as well as the National Youth Wind Ensemble and she holds memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Indiana Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Tau Beta Sigma.
