The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce Chuck Naffier as the Brass Caption Manager. Chuck has been involved in the marching arts activity for close to 40 years as a performer, instructor, arranger, composer, and program coordinator. He holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.“We are excited to bring Chuck Naffier to the Madison Scouts,” said Artistic Director James Elvord. “Chuck has an accomplished history in this activity as a brass instructor, arranger, and music educator. His broad range of experiences will help shape our brass program and provide our brass members a quality learning environment.”Chuck got his start as a performer and soloist with the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps of Dubuque, IA. Throughout the 90’s he worked for the Colts as a brass arranger, brass caption supervisor, and program coordinator. Named to the Colts “Hall of Fame” in 2003, Chuck returned in 2014 and 2015 to serve as their brass arranger. He also worked with the Crossmen (San Antonio, TX) as a brass arranger and program coordinator from 2000-2003 and again from 2011-2014.An accomplished jazz musician, Chuck is an active performer and arranger/composer in the jazz idiom. His work can be heard from groups such as the The Denver Brass, Al Chez & The Brothers of Funk, and the Fort Collins Symphony. He was formerly the band director at Poudre High School (Fort Collins, CO), director of sound engineering and electronic music at Santaluces High School (Boyton Beach, FL), and guitar instructor at Lake Park High School (Lake Park, IL).Chuck is an active music adjudicator and clinician throughout the U.S. and he currently serves as the band director at Hawthorne Middle School South in Vernon Hills, IL.
