Madison Scouts to Perform at Texas Bandmasters Convention

The Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA) is pleased to announce that the Madison Scouts

will be a featured clinician and performing group at their 64th Annual

Clinic/Convention on Sunday, July 24th at 3 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas. The clinic and performance will be held in the newly renovated Lila Cockrell Auditorium located in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, site of the convention and nearby the famed San Antonio River Walk.“The corps is honored to be invited for this event,” stated Madison Scouts’ Executive Director Chris Komnick. “We are preparing a clinic that will provide those band directors attending an in-depth look into our design and show preparation process. As well, we are preparing a stage performance production that will not only include selections from our 2011 field show, but several other pieces and small ensemble features.”

The Madison Scouts clinic, scheduled for 3 p.m., will begin with a presentation by the corps’ design team led by James Mason (Star of Indiana, Brass Theatre and Blast!). The clinic portion will continue as the various instructors and sections of the corps discuss the techniques they implement to prepare the musicians for their performance.After a short intermission, the Scouts will return to the stage for a performance featuring both the full corps and small ensembles.“We are excited to have the Madison Scouts featured at this year’s convention,” said Mike Brashear, Executive Director of the TBA. “We will be able to provide our convention attendees an incredible opportunity to learn firsthand from the Scouts’ talented staff and see how those techniques are applied as the corps performs.”ABOUT THE TEXAS BANDMASTERS ASSOCIATIONFormed in 1948, the Texas Bandmasters Association works diligently to further the cause of instrumental music education in communities throughout the State of Texas.
