The Madison Scouts, a program of Forward Performing Arts, is pleased to announce a newly established $50,000 annual scholarship program in honor of its founder and long-time director, C.H. Beebe. The C.H. Beebe Scholarship fund will be available to students of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps and provided through a needs-based application process.
The scholarship program was established with generous seed donations from alumnus Rowan Sbaiti, Scouts Program Coordinator Jason Robb and his wife Jackie, and from Executive Director Chris Komnick and his wife Julie.
C.H. Beebe was the long time Executive Director of the corps until his passing in 1968. Known as the “Father” of the Madison Scouts, he was fiercely dedicated to the character development of his members, focused on servant leadership, and provided opportunity to participate from day one of the corps’ formation.
“I am so excited to help launch the C.H. Beebe Scholarship fund and establish a new level of tuition support for members of the Madison Scouts,” added Rowan Sbaiti. “My experience as a member was instrumental in who I am today. I am honored to give back and support new members of the Madison Scouts. I encourage my fellow alumni to do the same and help keep this great program fully funded in honor of our great tradition.”
“Jackie and I are honored to help fund and launch this scholarship,” added Jason Robb. "I would not have had the opportunity to become a Madison Scout if it was not for the generosity of others. The organization was foundational to my development as a person and we want to help ensure that others are afforded the opportunity of being a Madison Scout.”
“The operating costs for running the Madison Scouts program continue to escalate,” explained Corps Director David Lofy. “Even though the organization underwrites more than half of the experience for members, the tuition costs are still out of reach for many potential Scouts. Having a well-funded scholarship program in place will enable us to ensure that the Madison Scouts is more accessible to those who seek to participate.”
The C.H. Beebe Scholarship Fund will be available immediately to students for the upcoming season. For those patrons seeking to donate to the fund or make it part of their estate planning can do so with maximum tax benefit.
Contributions to the fund can be made directly at SCOUTSPROSHOP
