Madison Scouts Announce Susan Hanggi as Color Guard Caption Head

The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce that Susan Hanggi will serve as Color Guard Caption Head for the 2015 season and Ian Lewis will serve as Assistant Caption Head.

“We are pleased to promote Susan to the caption head position with Ian as her assistant,” said Chris Komnick, Executive Director. “Both Susan and Ian have been instrumental in delivering quality instruction to our guard program over the past 3 seasons and we expect their new roles to build upon that experience.”

Susan Hanggi is currently a teacher at Guyer High School (TX) where she teaches AP World Geography and is the Director of the color guard. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Kennesaw State University (GA) and a Masters Degree from the University of North Texas. She has been a member of the Madison Scouts color guard staff since 2012.

Susan was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard (2004-05) and Phantom Regiment (2006); and with winter guard units Infiniti World (2003), Pride of Cincinnati (2004-06), and Phantom Regiment Winter Guard (2007). She began teaching color guard at Kell High School and served on the color guard staffs at Phantom Regiment (2008), Phantom Regiment Winter Guard (2009), Carolina Crown (2009-11), and the Carolina Crown Winter Guard (2010).

Ian Lewis is a graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL) with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a concentration in saxophone. While at Jacksonville State he performed with the Chamber Winds, Symphonic Band, and the Marching Southerners. He has been a member of the Madison Scouts color guard staff since 2012.

Ian was a member of the Blue Stars (2009) and the Carolina Crown (2010-11). During that time, he also performed with winter guards Aureus Independent and Paramount.

Ian also teaches and choreographs with various high school and collegiate programs including Kennesaw Mountain High School (GA), Western Carolina University (NC), Saint James School (AL), East Paulding High School (GA), and Georgia State University. During the winter guard season he works with Paramount and Georgia State University.
