The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce that Scott Oliver will serve as Brass Caption Head for the 2015 season and Alex Brough will serve as Assistant Brass Caption Head.
“We are excited to promote Scott and Alex to the leadership of our brass program,” said Chris Komnick, Executive Director. “We have developed a strong brass instructional philosophy and these two have been instrumental in building that. They are both excellent music educators and it is a privilege to have them lead our brass team.”
Scott Oliver is Assistant Band Director at Marian Catholic High School (IL) and joined the Scouts brass staff in 2010. He is is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. After graduation he was a band director at Hinsdale Middle School (IL) and a marching band instructor and jazz band director at Downers Grove South High School (IL).
Scott started his drum corps career at the Colts from 2005–08 and aged out with Carolina Crown in 2009. He continues to be active as a performer with the Northshore Concert Band and Naperville Jazz Band.
Alex Brough is the Assistant Director of Bands at Bexley High School (OH). He received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University where he was a member of the university’s symphony orchestra, wind symphony, jazz ensemble, and The Ohio State University Marching Band. Alex is also an instructor for the marching bands at Northmont High School (OH) and Delaware Hayes High School (OH). In addition, Alex is joining the staff of the WGI Winds group RhythmX Winds.
Alex marched 3 years with the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps and 3 years with the Madison Scouts. He has been a member of the Scouts brass staff since 2009.
