Madison Scouts Announce David Lofy as Corps Director

The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce the appointment of David Lofy as Corps Director. David began his service on the Madison Scouts management team in 2017. In his current role he will oversee the daily operation of the corps during the summer tour and is responsible for designing and facilitating educational experiences related to students' social, moral, and leadership development. At the center of his work, David holds member safety, wellness, and personal development as his top priorities."David is so much more than just a product of the corps, he has helped to advance the culture in notable and positive ways," said Programs Director Dann Petersen. "He clearly understands the expectations of our students in terms of education, experience and well being; there is no one better to serve their immediate and future needs". David performed with the Scouts from 2012-14 as a baritone player and drum major, and participated in the Macy's (2014) and Mardi Gras (2018) parades as an alumnus. Prior to his return to the Madison Scouts, he served on the Oregon Crusaders brass educational team from 2015-16.David received his Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Music Education at the University of Illinois. There he serves as a graduate teaching assistant to the Marching Illini and Athletic Bands under the direction of Professor Barry Houser.David resides in Champaign, IL, with his wife, Catherine.
