Madison Scouts Announce 2025 Drum Majors

The Madison Scouts are pleased to introduce their drum majors for the 2025 season, including returning drum majors Lex Rodrigues Monteiro and Jana Paulsen, along with new members Juliana Thint and Tyler Wold.

Lex Rodrigues Monteiro

Lex Rodrigues Monteiro (20), of Orange Park, Florida, is entering his fifth year with the Madison Scouts. Rodrigues Monteiro has studied Music Theory and Composition with Berklee Online since 2023 and attends St. Johns River State College pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree. With experience marching mellophone and bass drum, Lex is also an educator and designer for ensembles across northeast Florida including both marching band and indoor percussion programs. He also serves as the music arranger and composer for Silent Command LLC.

“I have had the privilege to be a part of the Madison Scouts for the past four years, and as I enter the fifth, I am in continuous awe of how far it, as well as I, have come. I am so excited to be able to age out here and constantly be pushing boundaries in world class drum corps, whether it be culture or music. After the successes of the 2024 season, the team and I are fully confident in what we can achieve this season. It is truly a blessing to be able to call the Madison Scouts my home and I can't wait to see what incredible things are in store for us in 2025.”

Jana Paulsen

Jana Paulsen (20) from Antioch, IL is entering her second year with the Madison Scouts. Paulsen is currently a junior at Carthage College where she is studying Music Education. At Carthage, Paulsen is a clarinet player in the Wind Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, and a conductor for Pep Band. Outside of performing, Paulsen is the Instrumental Music Assistant for the instrumental program at Carthage and a photographer for the Carthage Athletics program. She is also a private instructor for Silent Command.

Prior to joining Madison Scouts, Paulsen participated in four years of high school marching band; three years marching clarinet and one as a Drum Major.

“I am beyond excited to be returning to scouts for my second year. After a fantastic, successful season last year, the expectations are high and that drives me to work even harder towards more goals this season. I’m excited to work with an amazing team of Drum Majors this year and create goals for the whole corps to be the best we can be. The vibes for this season are only getting started and this is going to be an amazing year!”

Juliana Thint

Juliana Thint (20), from Jacksonville, Florida is entering her first year as a Madison Scout. Thint is currently in her second year of studies as a Music Education student at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At LSU, Thint is a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland as a piccolo player. She has also performed as a member of the LSU Symphonic Winds, which was invited to perform at the 2024 CBDNA Southern Division Conference. For the 2024 season, Thint marched with the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps as their assistant Drum Major.

“Being able to be a part of the Madison Scouts is the realization of a dream that I have had for years. Since I first discovered what DCI was, the Madison Scouts have been one of my all-time favorite groups that I’ve cheered on for years, and to now stand as a part of this organization means more than the world to me. I am so incredibly grateful and honored to have been invited to work with this amazing team, and I am so excited to get to call this place home.”

Tyler Wold

Tyler Wold (17), from Marietta, Georgia, is entering his first year with the Madison Scouts and first year of Drum Corps. Tyler is currently a senior at Pope High School and plans to study Architecture in college. At Pope High School, he plays the saxophone in the Wind Symphony and served as a Drum Major in the marching band, having marched for two years prior. Outside of school, he enjoys reading, writing, and being creative.

"I am more than excited to begin my DCI journey with the Madison Scouts in 2025! I’ve already been greatly inspired by the amazing community of musicians that make up the Scouts, and I can’t wait to experience everything they have to offer. As a Drum Major, I will strive to bring out the best in others while expressing the best in myself. I aim to be a source of comfort and positivity within this organization, supporting each member throughout everything that is thrown at us. This is truly a dream come true, I can’t wait to continue to grow with this incredible community and show the world what the Scouts have in store for the 2025 season!"
