Ian Lewis and KC Perkins Named Color Guard Caption Heads

The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Lewis and KC Perkins as Color Guard Caption Heads for the 2016 season.“We are privileged to have both Ian and KC returning to our guard program and assuming the caption head role,” said Chris Komnick, Executive Director. “This will be Ian’s fifth year on the guard staff and KC’s second. They both bring an incredible passion and experience to their teaching.”

Ian is a graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL) with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a concentration in saxophone. While at Jacksonville State he performed with the Chamber Winds, Symphonic Band, and the Marching Southerners. Ian was a member of the Blue Stars (2009) and the Carolina Crown (2010-11). During that time, he also performed with winter guards Aureus Independent and Paramount.Ian also teaches and choreographs with various high school and collegiate programs including Kennesaw Mountain High School, Western Carolina University, Saint James School, East Paulding High School, and Georgia State University. During the winter guard season he works with Paramount and Georgia State University.KC began her connection with color guard at the age of seven as a spectator of the 1977 DCI Prelims in her hometown of Boulder, Colorado. She then followed her passion for performing by marching with the Blue Knights, Thunderbolts, Emerald Marquis, and Cadets of Bergen County. Continuing her love for the activity, she has been an instructor for many groups including Pomona High School, Plymouth-Canton High School, Pope High School, Seminole High School, Father Ryan High School, Forte, Oracle, Opus X, Paramount Winterguard, Blue Knights, and the Phantom Regiment.KC is an artist, a writer, and a teacher of authentic and expressive art, which allows her to delve fully into movement, voice, photography, video, performance art, drawing, play, painting, and found-object sculpture. She calls Nashville, Tennessee her home where she enjoys, writing, gardening, hiking, meditation, and playing with her dog-children, Sisco and Bodhi.
