Forward Performing Arts is excited to again offer its Forward Leadership program as part of the UTA Summer Music Camps, presented by the Department of Music at University of Texas Arlington. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's sessions were transitioned to a virtual learning environment being held June 15-17, 2020.
"We are honored to join UTA for our third year of delivering leadership training," said Chris Komnick, Executive Director of Forward Performing Arts. "This type of leadership experience is extremely valuable for students today, now more than ever."
The UTA Summer Music Camps strive to provide each student an opportunity to work with and learn from the highest quality instructional staff from around the nation.
"The Forward Leadership program is highly adaptable to a virtual learning environment," stated Nick Putnam, course facilitator for Forward Leadership. "As part of our MadU learning program, developed initially for the Madison Scouts, we adapted our course objectives for delivery within a streaming video workshop environment."
With approximately 150 students engaged in the UTA Summer Music Camps, the objective is to bring together a diverse learning environment and provide hands-on learning scenarios for the students to traverse. Upon completion, students will have a core set of leadership skills that they can effectively apply within their own band program environments.
