May 19- Rocky:Two days in and we’re already starting to get into the hang of things. We wake up at seven, have three four hour blocks a day with one hour meal breaks, and lights out is at 11:30pm. In our morning block we either do PT with the entire percussion section, or the battery does point drill (more stories to come). Following that, we usually go into subs until lunch (also more stories to come). Afternoon block is always the toughest though. People are always tired in a PT “hangover”, and on top of that it’s always the hottest part of the day. After dinner, night blocks are usually pretty standard, although that will all change once the horns get here and we start doing full ensemble and run throughs. At the end of night blocks we usually do some “Basics” AKA marching basics with our visual caption head Blake. Most afternoon and night blocks so far we’ve spent learning drill, which means learning the show. Already have more than 8 minutes of drill learned- that’s over 120 dots! It’s proving to be pretty hard, but it’s a fun show to march so far.
