Czech, Hogan, Webb, and Modl to Lead Scouts in 2018

The Madison Scouts are pleased to introduce the drum majors for the 2018 season, including Nathan Czech, Sean Hogan, Mikal Webb, and Daniel Modl.

NATHAN CZECHNathan Czech (20), of River Falls, WI, is marching his third season as a drum major of the Madison Scouts. He began his drum corps career in 2015 with River City Rhythm (Anoka, MN) on baritone. Nathan currently attends the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in pursuit of his bachelor’s in music education. At school he studies euphonium with Dr. Jacob Grewe, serves as the principal euphonium player in the University’s Symphony Band, is a drum major for the Blugold Marching Band, and works as an undergraduate teaching assistant for the UW-Eau Claire Bands Department."I'm incredibly excited to work with the phenomenal educators at Madison and to work with these amazing men on the drum major team."

SEAN HOGANSean Hogan (20), of Poughkeepsie, NY, is marching his second and final season with the Madison Scouts. Along with serving as a drum major for the Scouts in 2017-2018, he previously conducted at the 7th Regiment drum and bugle corps in 2016. Sean studies music education at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York where he plays flute for many ensembles such as the Crane Wind Ensemble and the Crane Flute Ensemble. Sean has previously worked on staff for the Arlington High School marching band in Lagrangeville, New York, and he aspires to become a high school band director.“I'm very thankful for my time with the Madison Scouts. This organization has enhanced my musicianship skills as well as my confidence and ability to be a better man for the world. It is always a thrill to see how the people around you grow over the summer, and I can't wait to see where this season takes us as a drum corps and a brotherhood.”

MIKAL WEBBMikal Webb (21), of Montgomery, AL, is marching his third and final season with the Madison Scouts. He marched in 2015-16 as a member of the tuba section, and served as a co-section leader in 2016. Prior to joining the Scouts, he completed two seasons as a drum major at Saint James School. Mikal is currently a senior at Huntingdon College where he studies Mathematics. Beyond the Scouts, he plays saxophone at local events with his sister, a singer-songwriter, and his church. After graduating, Mikal plans to get his Masters in Mathematics or Space Science.“This is going to be a great summer. The intentional thought that is going in to each piece of this corps from the members to the staff is going to make this season one for the books.”

DANIEL MODLDaniel Modl (17), of Chippewa Falls, WI, is marching his first season with the Madison Scouts. He is currently a senior at Chippewa Falls Senior High School where he has served as a drum major for the Chippewa Falls Marching Cardinals. Daniel also participates in his school’s top concert and jazz ensembles as a saxophonist, pianist, and student conductor. Daniel plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the fall to study music education and saxophone under Dr. Michael Shults, with whom he currently studies.“I’m very honored and excited to be selected as one of the drum majors for the Madison Scouts for their 2018 season. I cannot wait to start working with such a highly talented and gifted group of young men. This will provide me with excellent knowledge and understanding of music and the marching arts I will hopefully share with my students as a future music educator.”The Madison Scouts will begin the 2018 DCI season in Whitewater, WI on Saturday, June 23rd.
