Steve Swetich is a visual designer and college instructor living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is currently the program coordinator, drill designer, and visual caption head at Lake Orion HS, Portage Northern HS, and Plainwell HS. He’s the visual designer for Vortex Percussion (PIA) and Lake Orion Percussion (PSO). Steve takes great pride in having designed for and instructed programs at all levels of competition over the last 14 years.
As an educator, Steve has served on the visual staffs at The Boston Crusaders, The Woodlands HS, Legends Drum and Bugle Corps, and most recently The Madison Scouts. As a performer, Steve’s experience spanned 5 years at the drum corps and WGI World Class level that included The Cavaliers, Bluecoats, North Coast Academy, and Dutch Boy. But most notably, the best performance experience was when Steve danced in front of Madonna in London in 2016 - she was not impressed.
In 2017, Steve graduated with an MA from King’s College London (UK) in Film and Philosophy. In addition to his pageantry work, Steve has been teaching classes in Ethics, Screenwriting, and Philosophy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College since 2018. When not doing band, he can likely be found playing golf. He has been married to his incredible wife, Amanda, since 2021.
