Josh Nees is a percussionist and educator based in Northeast Ohio. He has worked with many marching bands in the Akron area including Norton High School, Nordonia High School, New Philadelphia High School and The Akron School of the Arts, Firestone High School where he was the Percussion Director from 2014-2019. Currently Josh is in his 15th year with Matrix Performing arts as a drum technician.
Josh began his marching music career with The Glassmen Drum and Bugle corps from Toledo, Ohio, where he was a quad drummer from 2008 to 2012. He was a quad drummer with Matrix performing arts from 2010 to 2013. Josh worked as an instructor with The Phantom regiment from 2017 to 2022. Josh spent three seasons performing with the Cleveland Browns Drumline. Since 2015 he has been a drummer with the Cleveland Cavaliers 216stix.
Josh holds a Bachelors degree in mathematics from Baldwin Wallace University. He currently lives in Akron, Ohio where he works as a performer, educator and actor. This will be Josh's first year with the Madison Scouts.
